2009 - MY YEAR TO SHINE
As we are embarking on our own personal 2009 – My Year to Shine program, it’s appropriate that our country is embarking on some shining of it’s own. Regardless of your political loyalties, I am so proud of our country for all of the things we take for granted. For instance, today at noon, there will be the peaceful transfer of power from one man to another. One family leaves the white house, and another family moves in. There is no violent coup. There is no bloodbath or killing of the members of the party who didn’t win. I read an article from an African news source that said this official is impressed not so much which particular person wins the presidency, but that our elections are peaceful. We all campaign with all of our causes and opinions voiced loudly and sometimes in ways that are not good. But in the end, the American people abide by the decision that was made and move on together to face the challenges before us.
Remember, our own recovery depends on shining in spite of what’s going on around us, too. Shining has more to do with our inner spirit than anything else. Each of us can choose what our own good heart guides us to do. Make those decisions wisely and with joy today.
Let’s shine our light as individuals and as a people dedicated to peace and freedom, especially today.
