Tip #95. Get your own special water glass. Health experts are always telling us to drink plenty of water. Even though some disagree about how much, most of us don’t drink enough cool, clear unadulterated water. So, buy your own personal water glass. Crystal, funky, or fun. Use it to encourage yourself to drink 8 glassfuls a day. I have two special glasses. One is a Waterford cut glass tumbler that I love. It catches the light on the table. It sends rainbows around the room on sunny days, and it helps me remember to drink water. The other glass is a tall, funky, contemporary goblet with a silver wire and beads around the stem. It holds the same amount of water and it, too, makes drinking my daily allotment of water more fun … and more likely. I’m not a water drinker. I don’t know why that is. My mom never drank much water. My dad drank tons of iced tea or water at dinner. He still does. I know it helps your body in all kinds of ways. Your skin looks better. Digestion is better. Blood pressure is better. You eat less. All those positive physical things happen just because we’re getting our eight glassfuls. During a storm like midlife divorce, we sometimes forget the most basic things like drinking plenty of water. Your own special water glass will make it more likely that you will do just that.
