101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce

(Picture is from www.douggreensgarden.com)
Tip # 68. Plant some bulbs. Fall is just a few days away. If you have a chance today after work or on your lunch hour, go get some bulbs to plant. Even grocery stores have them in some places. Planting a bulb is a complete act of faith. You are required to take something ugly and rough and put it into the ground. And you have to wait. And wait. And wait. Eventually you forget about it. Then one day in spring, unexpectedly you notice the little green shoots peeking up out of the dark earth and within a week or so, you see a strong, bright beautiful tulip or daffodil or narcissus or lily. Think about the things you are doing every day right now during your midlife divorce recovery journey. You keep trying to do the right thing and sometimes you can’t see one single good thing come from it in the short term. The dirt is still there and you wonder if you’ll ever see spring at all. But then one day, you see the beginnings and the blossoms of a new life standing strong and beautiful. Plant those bulbs of right choices and unshakable convictions today. Don’t give up because you can’t see any flowers yet. They will come. And they will surprise you with how glorious they are.
