101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce

Tip # 51. Get ready for the 2012 Olympics. The Olympics were over last night in a blaze of glory. Regardless of the questionable politics of the host country this year, The Olympics always inspire me! As I watched the closing ceremony on steroids, I decided that I am going to compete or participate in some athletic event by 2012. I want to push myself. I want to have a time goal or a distance goal that is specific. Just “getting fit,” while admirable, often lets us coast too much. Like my friend who is doing the MS 150. She looks great. And she knows she’s going to have to ride 80 miles or so for two days. She wouldn’t be training as hard without that physical number. I want to feel that glow of a new personal best, too! The key to reaching any goal is to take action. Do something immediately to help achieve that goal. Even if it’s only deciding what your real goal is and writing it down. Or walking around the block or dropping your bike off to get tuned up. Make a definite physical goal to achieve by 2012 and do something concrete to get there today. Let me know what your “Gold Medal” quest is going to be! Envision your hands over your head in your own private victory lap! Start this very day!
