101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce
Tip # 41. Watch an uplifting documentary. I’m a Sound of Music type moviegoer. I don’t want to come away from a $15-$20 evening depressed. And especially if you are going through a midlife divorce, there are enough depressing things on your plate. But there are some excellent docu/movies out there these days. There are two docu/films I’ve seen recently that I highly recommend. One is called Young@Heart about an over-60 singing group that goes on tour. Their director, not content to have them sing golden oldies (even though they are golden oldies) gives them current/cool/great pieces to perform. The other show is The Singing Revolution about Estonia and how it’s citizens saved their oppressed and threatened national culture and identity by song. Both movies are so good I want to see them again. Another invigorating, inspirational bio/documentary is called Emmanuel’s Gift, the story of a destitute, disabled young man from Ghana who turns his disability into a country-wide movement to help other disabled people. Go be turned-on and turned up. Life is full of challenges, but also full of inspirational, energizing solutions!
