101 Ways to Move Forward After A Midlife Divorce

Tip # 40. Spend a day not saying one single thing about your “wasband.” Women talk. Women need to talk, and especially at the beginning of our midlife divorce recovery journey we need to have a couple of friends or family members who will let us talk as much as we want to about our divorce. That’s also why a R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Women recovery group can be so valuable. We can talk as much as we need to and get support, advice, comfort, laughter, and sometimes simply a listening heart. But today, let’s take the day off! Make a decision to not say one single word about him today. If you start to think about him, redirect your thinking, and “go” immediately to your “happy place” in your head! I would “go” to my favorite fishing spot in Wyoming. Or I would think of my grandchildren or a project I was working on. But the key is to go there immediately. You can do that with your words, too. Change direction before you say one single syllable about him. It’s one of the best vacations you can give yourself!
