101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce

Tip # 37. Have a “what not to wear” day in your closet. My granddaughter got me started on the television show, What Not to Wear! It’s a great show. If you haven’t seen it you should watch it a few times. The show features normal, everyday, less than perfect women who have been suggested by their friends as needing a makeover in how they dress. The host and hostess of the show go into the person’s closet with a big trash barrel and start throwing things in it. Often, the guest tries to retrieve something or explain why they need to keep it. (Usually to no avail!) Then the person has two days to spend a certain amount of money to get three or four outfits that look fantastic! The end result is always astonishing! A midlife divorce is a perfect excuse to take a new look at your wardrobe. Go in your closet today and throw or give away things you will never ever wear again as long as you live. Be bold! Be brave! Start making conscious choices about what you wear. Decide what colors and styles make you look and feel great. Start establishing you own personal style. You have a new life ahead of you. You may as well look great on the trip!
