101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce

Tip # 33. Eat a small piece of chocolate every day. Get the best you can afford and enjoy every single bite. During the trauma of midlife divorce, it’s up to you to find all the (legal and helpful) pleasure you can find. For me, one of the easiest ways to find honest-to-goodness enjoyment is to savor a great piece of chocolate with a cup of rich, dark coffee. And guess what?! New research is showing that chocolate in small amounts can actually be good for you. Chocolate has all kinds of benefits from helping keep blood pressure at healthy levels to boosting those good anti-oxidants and it increases concentration and energy. Plus the best part of all is that it tastes so good. I often buy a box of great chocolates (My favorites are Russell Stovers, Godiva and Andres!) and I have a piece after lunch or after dinner or even in the middle of the afternoon. Even if it just takes your mind off of your situation with a few minutes of total pleasure, it’s worth it! Remember, don’t “drown” your sorrows in a whole box of chocolates all at once. This only works in moderation. Enjoy!
