101 Ways to Move Forward After a Midlife Divorce
Tip #17. Paint your front door a color you like. Go to the hardware or paint store and pick out a color that inspires you and makes you feel good. My front door is green like Bilbo Baggin’s door in The Hobbit. I love the color. It’s inviting and it gives me a positive feeling every time I look at it. For me, green is the color of growth and new life. But pick your own color. Red is invigorating. Yellow is cheerful. Blue is refreshing. Purple is powerful. Go to the bookstore and read about colors and how they influence your thinking, then get a can of paint and go for it! Your door can make a statement about your life -- What you expect and what you are going to make happen in your future. During a midlife divorce, there are some doors closing behind you. But redirect your thinking by painting your own wonderful front door. That simple act will give you courage to open some of those other doors that are before you calling you to a vibrant, exciting, invigorating life.
