"The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become." ~Charles DuBois
I have a Divorce Recovery Boot Camp coming up tomorrow. I am really excited about it. The presenters are excellent, and the people who have signed up have hungry hearts for change in their lives. They are feeling discouraged and sad and afraid ... just like all of us do when we start out on the divorce recovery road. One of the reasons I call my seminars boot camps is because I have studied Marine Corps Boot Camps and I see lots of similarities. This experience of divorce can transform you just like Marine boot camp can change you from a weak, insecure, afraid person into a strong, straight person of honor, courage and commitment. The Marine Corps teaches values and integrity and dedication. But you don't develop those things overnight. You learn strategies. You work together. You believe you can succeed. You work hard every day to get strong physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You know right from wrong and you develop the moral courage and the habit to choose right. You are always accountable for your own actions ... 24/7. You are dedicated to a purpose and you always follow through. In the Marine Corps, the other Marines around you won't let you do anything else. We need to be like Marines. Be willing to do the hard work. Be willing as DuBois says to sacrifice what we are for what we can become. This midlife divorce experience can make you strong or it can destroy you. The great thing is, you have the choice of which it will be. Choose to do the work. Choose to be courageous. Choose to be strong. Another great thing, God can help you be and do those right things. He is with you every single step of this journey. He will never fail you. He wants to take you to personal heights and victories you can't even imagine. Do your part. He will do his. You will be absolutely amazed at the power of that combination.

David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you..." 1 Chronicles 28:20a
