R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Thoughts

"Creativity is the natural order of life. Life is energy: pure creative energy. Our creative dreams and yearnings come from a divine source. As we move toward our dreams, we move toward our divinity."
The Artist's Way - Julie Cameron

Last night I went to the Plaza Art Fair, an annual outdoor art fair held in the Fall in Kansas City. I always come away astounded at the creativity and exuberance flying around in every direction. The trip to this event always gets my creative juices flowing ... I want to go home and create my own "works of art." (I always thought that an odd term ... art is more play than work!) But after the art fair, too, I always realize that I'm the masterpiece ... the artists themselves are the masterpieces ... the "home" of the creative Spirit that runs the world. The fabric or vase or painting is not as important as the process of creating it ... as the searching for and expression of the artist's deepest, innermost yearnings. We yearn to express and share ideas of joy or security or fear or belonging or relationship or to express the miracle of wood or pigment or light formed into something that embodies or points to the magic of life, itself. Color is a miracle of vibrating frequencies of light. Isn't that an incredible thought? Everything is pure creative energy. The art fair just reminds me that some people are more in tune with the miraculous than others or at least they are willing to try to capture some part of that energy to express their own divine nature. We all are artists. Our lives are an expression of the divine. Let's think about what we are creating today ... and really appreciate the amazing artists that we are.

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
