"Money is better than poverty, if only for financial reasons."
Woody Allen
The RadicalWomenNetwork.com newsletter this month is going to be about finances. A financial planner is going to give some practical guidance about handling our finances after divorce. I don't want to have to worry about money. I'm not asking for millions of dollars, I just want to be able to pay my bills. I guess learning to live within our means is one key to having enough to pay our bills. But then, a couple of weeks ago, my youngest son's car transmission went out. The $380 he had to pay (after the insurance) wasn't in his college budget. It's not in my budget either, but he has to have a car to get to work. (He can ride his bike to classes). Then this morning he was in town because of a meeting at a business where he is interning and someone broke into his car that he just got back yesterday. Someone (sigh) will have to pay to have that fixed. There are always those unexpected expenses that aren't in our budget. I guess that's true no matter how small or how big our budget is. Somehow, we always find a way to get the things we really need. I guess my job is to believe that, get to work and quit worrying.
