R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Thoughts

" ... let us go forth to lead the land we love asking His blessing and His help but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it and the glow from that fire can truly light the world."
John F. Kennedy
It's the fourth of July. We've already done a few harmless, not very loud, fireworks with two of our grandchildren. For the last few days I've heard the muffled sounds of big fire works in the distance. Every year when I hear those sounds, I'm reminded of the fight for freedom everywhere. I'm getting on a plane to go speak in Nashville in a few hours and far away in the back of my head, I'm hoping terrorists haven't decided to bomb a planeful of people going anywhere ... in honor of our country's birthday and in an effort to stop the truth and freedom that we represent. I think the "fire that can truly light the world," is the fire of freedom. The freedom of peace and love and service to our fellow man. In fact, it is only through service ... to the poor, to the weak, to the downtrodden, to those enslaved and oppressed by evil will our own light and that of our country shine. Our country is made up of individuals who are willing to expend their energy and time for the principles of Truth and Freedom for men and women and children everywhere. We should be proud of that and be even more determined to shine that light of hope wherever we can. This truth we know, we are all called to share. Today, let's all think about our own individual responsibility in this picture of freedom and truth. Happy Fourth of July!
"If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth and the truth will free you."
John 8:32
By the way, I will be out of town for four days, and I will try to update the blog as usual. However, occasionally when I travel, I am unable to connect to the internet at certain times, so if you don't hear from me that's what has happened.
