"Satisfaction comes from giving up wishing we were doing something else -- or being somewhere else."
Sue Bender, author of Plain and Simple Wisdom
Satisfaction and contentment don't bring to mind flashing lights or parades or big, loud celebrations of great successes. Those two similar concepts are quieter and more calm. Satisfaction and contentment are enduring, but in-the-moment realities. They are the natural harvest of a peaceful, fearless, full heart. The good thing is, we can choose to be content. On our way to wherever we are going, we can be content about where we are and see each moment as a necessary, purposeful step on our journey. During my divorce, I wasted so much precious, irretrievable time wishing things were different. I think that's natural, even though it's unproductive. It would have been better if I could have recognized at the time that every single hard circumstance I was going through was refining me and teaching me unbelievable life lessons ... priceless truths about what I'm really on this earth to do and be. Today, I'm going to simply fill my heart with feelings of satisfaction and see what happens.
"And don't be wishing you were someplace else or with someone else. Where you are right now is God's place for you. Live and obey and love and believe right there. God, not your marital status, defines your life."
1 Corinthians 7:17 (The Message)
