R.A.D.I.C.A.L. Thoughts

"More geese than swans now live, more fools than wise."
Anonymous - 1612

Wisdom is hard to come by on our own. It usually takes a bad experience or an inner struggle of some kind to gain wisdom. Foolishness, on the other hand, is everywhere. The foolish person is one who does what he feels like doing without any consideration of the larger implications of his actions. The foolish person spreads destruction everywhere without regard to how his actions affect the lives of others. Fools act without thinking, speak without understanding and go on their merry way, none the wiser. That's why there are more fools than wise. Wisdom on the other hand searches out the best alternative. Wisdom according to the Bible is much more valuable than rubies, and silver and gold. But sometimes the human path to wisdom is hard and the climb, difficult. We know it is wise to guard our tongue. It is wise to see the bigger picture. It is wise to seek the good instead of the easy. And most of the time we have to make those choices while being surrounded by fools ... (or at least one!). But don't give up on wisdom. Gaining it is not always easy on our own; it takes thoughtful deliberation, but it's definintely worth pursuing. And remember, you can always ask God for it, and he will guide you to it.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."
James 1:5 (NIV)
